Adult lessons at RASM

Are you interested in taking lessons as an adult?

If you are considering starting an instrument as an adult, or want to continue from where you left off as a child, we want to assure you that you are in excellent company. At RASM, adults constitute a significant and growing portion of our student community. Many of our adult learners begin their instruction having never touched an instrument before. Our teachers are highly experienced in teaching adult students across all skill levels, and can confirm that it is never too late to start your musical education!

Ad-Hoc Flexibility for Adult Professionals

We recognise that consistency is key to learning but understand that standard weekly commitments can be challenging due to professional or personal demands. While our standard membership plans offer the most reliable scheduling and best value, we provide an alternative for those with unpredictable schedules. If a fixed weekly lesson is not feasible for your lifestyle, you might conisider our Ad-Hoc Lesson Policy.

Ad-hoc lesson information

Our ad-hoc policy is designed for those students who wish to take lessons with RASM, but don’t feel like the weekly commitment in term time suits their lifestyle or work commitments. We want to be able to cater for everyone’s needs at RASM so have put this system in place as an alternative option to our membership, allowing all students to learn with us in a way which suits them.

Below are some important points to consider taking ad-hoc lessons with us:

  • Ad hoc lessons are £60ph
  • You will not have a weekly timeslot reserved for you. If lessons are looking sparce at your preferred time slot, then we reserve the right to fit in a student on our monthly membership system, and find an alternative time for you on the weeks you wish to take a lesson
  • Cancellations require at least 48hrs notice
  • You will not receive some of the additional benefits of a membership tier with us. Full benefits of a monthly membership are below. You will be entitled to the benefits in BOLD:

o Weekly lessons throughout Greenwich term time (39 lessons during the year)

o Family Discount

o Multi-Instrument Discount

o Three Performance Platforms a year

o Performance in our Annual Concert at Woolwich Works

o Weekly Choir

o 50% off Studio Hire

o 20% off Summer School

o Orchestra rehearsals before the Annual Concert

o ABRSM exams in RASM Studio 1: As we are now a registered exam venue, we can book private visits for an examiner to come to the school, so our students can take their exams in a familiar room and on a familiar instrument.

  • Invoices will be sent, and must be paid, in advance of the lessons taking place that month
  • Lessons will be arranged directly through your teacher

We hope that this offers our prospective Adult students some clarity and confidence to pick up an instrument. If you would like to start please fill in our 'Register for lessons' form on our home page.
